This is a list of Illustrators that caught my eye in the awesome book “Making Comics” by Scott McCloud which I read recently and is full of important information if you are a self-taught illustrator or comic artist so I definitely recommend you to check it out.

This list is in no particular order, although I like the ones marked with (*) and really liked the ones marked with (**):

Colleen Doran – Illustrator and comic artists, art similar to Mucca but missing perspective studies
P. Craig Russell – American comics artist, writer, and illustrator. Retro realistic, colors, much, fantasy.
Katsuhiro Otomo* – is a Japanese manga artist, screenwriter and film director.
Derek Kirk Kim – Korean-American writer, director, and artist.
Amy Kim Ganter – American author and illustrator of original English-language manga.
Kazu Kibuishi – American graphic novel author and illustrator. He is best known for being the creator and editor of the comic anthology Flight.
Svetlana Chmakova** – Russian-Canadian comic book artist.
Bryan Lee O’Malley** – Canadian cartoonist, best known for the Scott Pilgrim series.
Hergé** – Georges Prosper Remi, known by the pen name Hergé, was a Belgian cartoonist. He is best known for creating The Adventures of Tintin.
Albert Uderzo – Alberto Aleandro Uderzo was a French comic book artist and scriptwriter. He is best known as the co-creator and illustrator of the Astérix series in collaboration with René Goscinny.

Tardi – Jacques Tardi is a French comics artist.
François Schuiten is a Belgian comic book artist. He is best known for drawing the series Les Cités Obscures.
Tove Jansson – Swedish-speaking Finnish author, novelist, painter, illustrator and comic strip author.
Winsor McCay** – American cartoonist and animator. (Very good wikipedia)
