Brands that inspire me for their minimalism

I just wanted a share some brands that I found that I love because they are very minimalistic.

I got a pouch with the shape of a toast for my iPad 😭 it’s so cute (I bought it on eBay).

I definitely want to buy something from them, Do you know if you can find it in the US? I’ll research :9
Video 1. Noritake – Interview with Japanese illustrator

I discovered him because I bought one of his notebooks (which I shared in my My second stationery haul from my trip to Philly post in case you want to see more pictures)

Do you like minimalism? For me has been hard to find a balance. Sometimes I want to go crazy with colors and other times I just love one simple line.

A documentary day

I like to watch documentaries while I do chores and draw in the morning and these 3 (4 videos, I couldn’t stop myself) were so different and interesting.

The first one was this documentary about Tintin, very related to illustration 🙂

Video 1. The birth of Tintin: Discovering Hergé

The second one was about Agatha Christie. I was curious. I think, there is a connection among humans no matter the field when it comes to create or make something so I wanted to see how was Agatha’s process and this documentary called my attention:

Video 2. Cracking the Agatha Christie Code

Finally, MUSIC another interesting field where we can witness the process of creation. Did you know that there are different musical instruments that the one that we know 😯 (I didn’t) and not just that but people inventing them. This last one is a video about Nail Violins:

Video 3. What’s a NAIL VIOLIN?

Well, and I decided to add one more because when I was writing this article I remembered another video about people creating musical instruments.

Video 4. Max Vandervorst présente ses meilleurs voeux 2017

Ok this is it for today. Hope you enjoy 🙂

How to create a color palette from a picture

Today, in a magazine I found a picture that I loved:

And I said, what can I do with this? Oh yeah save the colors for an illustration later and this is the way that I did it:

1. I open my Adobe Capture App and this is the image that it gave me in case you want to use this app, I really like it.

2. I decided to use my colored pencils to see what colors I could use and this was the result

Believe it or not I crated the edit of the image above in my iPad with Adobe Illustrator for iPad, it’s really excellent, recommended 100% and I had to say it because I’m not a fan of Photoshop for iPad but Illustrator, OMG speechless.

And a closer look to the colors I got from the image:
Tropical Sand Color Palette
In case you want to use them…mmm…I should pick a name for them…Tropical Sand yay!

Well this is it, if you have any questions let me know and I’ll try to help.

Mapping to understand Figure Drawing

I have been learning about Figure Drawing because I would love to learn how to draw bodies and Mapping is one of the techniques that has been the most helpful to understand how to place something on a white page.

Mapping is just selecting points as in image 1, connecting them and create a map on a white page as shown in the images below. I would recommend you just to repeat and practice and you will understand little by little more about mapping.

The materials I’ll recommend you to use are old magazines with full body poses that have more movement and Posca PC-1M or PC-1MC bullet shaped 0.7 mm.

The mapping that I created during different days was this:

I hope this is helpful for your drawing path. Let me know if you have questions.
